In 2018, it was estimated that about 9,320 people in the United States died from a type of skin cancer called melanoma. About twice as many men died from melanoma compared to women. The leading cause of this serious and deadly skin cancer is exposure to the ultraviolet rays of the sun. It can also be caused by UV radiation in tanning beds. As a young child, I had a lot of skin sensitivities and allergies. It seemed like even the gentlest of lotions and detergents still caused a rash. My parents never could find a resolution, and as a young adult, I went to the local dermatologist to find out what could be done. I was amazed to learn that such sensitive skin was actually pretty common, but most people don't know how to care for it. I created this blog to show others what I've learned both from my dermatologist and from my own experimentation.
